"The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish most..."
Process Paper:
We chose to do our website on Ulysses S. Grant because without him America would not have succeeded in the ways that it did. He helped shape our country like no other before or after him. Also, we are all very interested in the Civil War and he was one of the best-if not best of the generals in the war. We all researched Grant individually, about a page each person. One person would do his childhood, the other would do his mid-life, and the other person would do his life after his mid-life. After we revised each other’s notes, we noted down what was not included and researched on that. We compiled the notes and did more research about his whole life, instead of just sections of his life.
We incorporated our notes into the website by how we researched them: youth, mid-life, and “later-life.” The youth tab refers to his childhood and finishes with his graduation from college. The mid-life tab summits about his career life and marriage life. It also has information on what Grant was like as a person, so personality-wise. The later-life tab refers to what life was like for him in his old age. The timeline was an extra idea since there were so many dates in our notes that we thought it’d be a waste to not put them in. The timeline goes about his life in a chronological fashion, starting with his birth and ending with his death.
Our project relates to the NHD theme because Ulysses S. Grant was one of the greatest leaders America ever had; it was he who lead us to victory in the civil war. He left one of the greatest legacies to America: freedom. We are all honored to have done our project on a notable man like Ulysses S. Grant.
